Blaming the state government for communal riots at Ajizpur village in Muzaffarpur district of Bihar, BJP on Wednesday demanded a judicial enquiry into the incident and Rs 10 lakh compensation to the families of the victims.
More than 24 families who had fled arson-hit Ajizpur village have returned home even as three policemen have been sent to police lines in connection with the violence which resulted in the death of five persons, including an abducted youth.
Five people were killed in the Niger capital on Saturday during violent riots against the depiction of the Prophet Mohammed on the cover of French satirical weekly Charlie Hebdo, President Mahamadou Issoufou said.
Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav accused the BJP of speaking lie to the people and cheating the nation. “They want to spread riots. The Agra incident was the beginning, They are trying to repeat such incidents across the country,” he said.
Several riot victims, including women, staged a dharna and raised slogans in Shahpur town over delay in the arrest of those accused in the Kutba killings in Muzaffarnagar during the communal clashes last year.
Altogether 90 people were killed and 1,688 others were injured in 561 incidents of communal violence in the country this year so far, a decline of 19 per cent as compared to the corresponding period of 2013, the Rajya Sabha was informed today.
Five people, including two teens, received bullet injuries in the communal clash in Trilokpuri in east Delhi last week. Delhi Police claims their bullets did not cause the injuries and an FIR filed by the police clearly mentions that they fired in "self defence".
The prohibitory orders on gathering and movement of people imposed in east Delhi's Trilokpuri area following a communal clash were relaxed for three hours Tuesday as no fresh violence was reported, police said.
