Nearly two years after the killing of the al-Qaeda founder, the United Nations Security Council has finally removed his name from its sanctions list.
The United Nations has removed names of 45 members and organisation associated with al Qaeda and Taliban from its sanctions list after the
first-ever review of 488 blacklisted individuals and entities.
The UN Security Council has
dropped five prominent Taliban members from its sanctions
blacklist under an ambitious national reconciliation plan of
Afghan President Hamid Karzai.
The de-listing is believed to facilitate peace process in Afghanistan.
