A prevailing severe cold wave sweeping through the southern Nepal`s Tarai region has claimed lives of twelve people.
The high altitude tribal areas and adjoining valleys reeled under piercing cold wave conditions as mercury dipped three to five degrees below normal.
Most of the lakes and other water bodies started freezing in the Kashmir Valley Tuesday as the maximum temperature also fell below zero degree Celsius.
The intense cold wave sweeping most
parts of Himachal Pradesh continued unabated on Saturday with no
significant rise in minimum temperature.
People across Punjab and Haryana
reeled under severe cold wave conditions on Saturday while a thick
blanket of fog affected normal life in many parts of north
India where over 500 people have died so far this winter.
