A special tribunal Wednesday upheld the ban imposed by the central government on the Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI) under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act for another five years.
Supreme Court referred to a larger bench a petition challenging the latest renewal of the ban on the Student Islamic Movement of India (SIMI).
The Centre has extended by two more
years the ban imposed on Students Islamic Movement of India.
SIMI, which was banned in 2001, has been under the scanner of security and intelligence agencies for terror attacks in various parts of the country.
