Sports Minister Jitendra Singh said on Wednesday that the stand-off between the government and the IOA over the contentious Sports Code was nearing resolution, a development which could pave the way for India putting up a united front in the joint meeting with the IOC in May.
The suspended Indian Olympic Association is willing to amend its constitution in line with age and tenure guidelines of the controversial Sports Code of the government, a top IOA official said on Saturday.
All India Football Federation President, Praful Patel on Thursday said that the contentious Sports Code should ensure that National Federations were not pitted against their international parent bodies and it should be approved by Parliament if at all it has to be implemented.
Praful Patel, who was today unanimously elected as President of the All India Football Federation President, urged the government to either make the contentious sports code a "law" or "take over" all the sports federations.
The International Olympic Committee has asked international sports federations to carefully examine the "complicated" situation in India in the wake of IOA`s suspension and take appropriate action to "protect the autonomy of the national federations" in the country.
