The bandh called by TRS in the Telangana region of Andhra Pradesh, to oppose move to create Rayala-Telangana, evoked good response on Thursday in the city while the shutdown was near-total and peaceful in Telangana districts, police said.
Alleging that the Andhra Pradesh government resorted to repressive measures to put down the Telangana agitation on Friday, TRS president K Chandrasekhar Rao has called for a bandh in the Telangana region on Saturday.
Clashes between activists and
police continued on Tuesday at the Osmania University campus even
as a 48-hour bandh began here and in all 10 districts of
Telangana demanding separate statehood for the region.
