A false tsunami alarm left one person dead and prompted hundreds of others to flee their homes in the Philippines, where natural disasters are frequent, a civil defence official said Wednesday.
About a thousand traumatised survivors of the Philippines` deadliest typhoon fled their homes in one central province following false rumours of a tsunami, civil defence officials said today.
The USGS said the quake hit some 107 kilometres (66 miles) east of Miyako, Japan, and some 327 kilometres (526 miles) northeast of Tokyo.
