The Supreme Court will on Tuesday hear a batch of petitions, including the one filed by social worker like Aruna Roy against the implementation of the Aadhar scheme or the "Unique Identification Number" System (UID), by linking it to various welfare schemes.
UIDAI has generated over 3.11 crore
`Aadhaar` numbers till the beginning of this month, with
Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra and Karnataka having garnered the
maximum numbers so far, the government said on Wednesday.
The ambitious `Aadhaar` project
was able to bring about reformation in the delivery system of
various welfare schemes, Chairman of the Unique Identification
Authority of India (UIDAI), Nandan Nilekani, said.
