Decades before India made a name for itself in the field of education, the princely state of Travancore made an unsuccessful bid to enlist services of great Albert Einstein as VC of its university for a monthly pay of Rs 6000.
The Patna High Court on Tuesday asked the
secretariat of the Chancellor of Universities, Devanand
Konwar, who is also the state Governor, to clear its stand on
a PIL seeking appointment of full-fledged vice-chancellors.
The delay in the appointment of a vice chancellor at the central university here rocked the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly on Friday with legislators from Jammu alleging the government was displaying "sheer indifference" on the issue.
