The Ministry of Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation, Government of India is observing “India Water Week” from January 13 to 17th in an effort to raise awareness, conserve and use of water resources in the integrated manner.
A multi-disciplinary dialogue, parallel exhibition, besides a programme on water resources planning will mark the India Water Week, being observed by the Ministry of Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation from next week.
Stating that water scarcity is an issue of grave concern for several regions in the state, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Friday said his government would focus on water conservation to make the state drought-free within a specific timeframe.
Commemorating the birth anniversary of late Jana Sangh leader Deen Dayal Upadhyaya, the Ministry of Water Resources will launch a National Water Conservation and Water Enrichment Scheme on September 25.
The government today approved a Rs 351 crore project to increase awareness among children, industrialists and farmers towards water conservation and improve the demand side management of available water resources.
