Appalling! UP constable 'molests' teen girls who went to lodge complaint

Lucknow: A constable in Uttar Pradesh has been accused of molesting two teenaged girls when they reportedly approached him to lodge a complaint.

The shocking incident has come to light after a video of the episode was posted on the social media, drawing sharp reaction from the public.

The sisters had gone to lodge a complaint in a local police station in Mainpuri, some 200 km from here, on May 25 when the incident took place.

NDTV has cited Mainpuri Superintendent of Police Rajesh S as saying that such behaviour would not be tolerated.

Meanwhile, a case has been filed against the constable under the POSCO Act, which deals with sexual abuse of children.

Constable Ishwari Prasad has, however, denied that he committed the crime.

"I asked them to go home and touched the hand of one of the women. I did not tease them," ANI quoted him as saying.

The spurt in crimes in Uttar Pradesh has prompted Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath to order the state police to come down hard on criminals.
