Atal Bihari Vajpayee's name removed from voters' list in Lucknow

Former Prime Minister and senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Atal Bihari Vajpayee has been one of the most known faces of Lucknow. But this time, he will no longer be eligible to vote for the civic polls in the city. His name has been removed from the voters' list of the Lucknow Municipal Corporation (LMC) as he has been away for the last several years.

Lucknow: Former Prime Minister and senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Atal Bihari Vajpayee has been one of the most known faces of Lucknow. But this time, he will no longer be eligible to vote for the civic polls in the city. His name has been removed from the voters' list of the Lucknow Municipal Corporation (LMC) as he has been away for the last several years.

A zonal officer said that Vajpayee's name been removed from the voter list after the latest (voter list) campaign. With the voter number 1054, he had last voted in the civic body polls in 2000. He was registered from the Babu Banarsi Das ward in Lucknow.

He hasn't used his right to vote since the 2004 Lok Sabha elections but had campaigned in 2006 for deputy CM Dinesh Sharma for the mayoral poll.

Since a long time, the former PM has not been keeping well and is confined to his home in Delhi. He stays at 6-A in Lutyen's Zone.

His residence in Lucknow 92 / 98-1 in Basmandi is now being used as the office of Kisan Sangh. He has not visited Lucknow for the past 10 years.
