Wanted criminals arrested by UP Police's Special Task Force

A wanted criminal involved in cases of murder and loot and an absconding inmate of Dasna jail were arrested from Greater Noida and Meerut respectively by the Special Task Force of the Uttar Pradesh Police today.

Western UP Special Task Force (STF) SP Rajeev Narayan Mishra said absconding criminal Sourav Singh who robbed Rs 50 lakh from an Agra-based cattle trader in December, and a reward of Rs 15,000 on his head, was nabbed from Surajpur police station area today.

During interrogation, Singh revealed that he, along with his accomplices -- Sonu and Dinesh, robbed the trader of Rs 50 lakh, Mishra said.

Singh had a tiff with his accomplices over the distribution of loot following which he murdered the duo and dumped the bodies in drain in Agra district, the SP said.

After the murder he fled to Maharashtra where he robbed another businessman in Dhulia area. Singh was eyeing to loot other traders in Noida, Agra and Mathura when he was caught, Mishra said.

The STF also arrested another criminal, with a reward of Rs 5,000 on his head, near Meerut district last night.

Ashok Pehelwan was wanted in around 28 cases including of murder, theft, kidnapping, fraud among others in Delhi. He fled from Dasna jail in 2011 after the Ghaziabad district court convicted him in a case of murder and abduction and gave life imprisonment, Mishra said.
