Yogi Adityanath inspects Akhilesh Yadav's ambitious 'Gomti Riverfront', asks officials to complete project on time

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Adityanath Yogi on Monday visited and inspected the Gomti riverfront, one of the ambitious projects of Akhilesh Yadav-led Samajwadi Party government.

According to reports, the Chief Minister – who returned to state capital from his hometown Gorakhpur late night on Sunday – visited the riverfront at around 11 am today.

Along with the state CM, Deputy Chief Minister Dinesh Sharma, state Tourism Minister Rita Bahuguna, Suresh Khanna, Upendra Tiwari and several senior state ministers were also at the site. Engineers and officers who have been connected to the project were also present.

The newly-elected Chief Minister summoned all the officers related to the project on the progress of work on the riverfront.

The Gomti riverfront has been developed along the river flowing from the centre of the city of Nawabs and Rs 1,500-crore was spend on it.

A diaphragm wall has been made on both banks of the Gomti river to channel its water flow.

The land between the waterway and the embankment has been developed for public use, like tracks for cycling, jogging and walking, apart from the play area for children.

Public conveniences like toilets and potable water taps and parking spaces have been provided at every 500 metres.

A lake too has been developed along with the installation of a musical fountain, an area reserved for doing yoga, a ground for weddings, and an amphitheater with a seating capacity of 2,000.

Under the project, the Hardinge Bridge, Gomti barrage, and Lohia Bridge have been illuminated with RGB lights, besides coloured lights at the Gandhi Bridge.

The project was inaugurated by former chief minister Akhilesh Yadav in Novermber last year.
