Kerala tense as Sabarimala temple opens today

Kerala braces for a tense Wednesday when Sabarimala opens for the first time since the historic Supreme Court verdict allowing women aged between 10 and 50 to pray at the hill temple, with hundreds of protesters opposing the verdict determined to have their way. On Tuesday, hours before the temple opens, agitators stopped and checked vehicles, including state-run buses, at Nilackal and forcibly turned back girls and women of this age group.
