Supreme court puts a stay on Uttarakhand High Court's order to provide river Ganga and Yamuna a living entity status. Uttarakhand government challenged the High Court's decision in the Supreme Court saying that the rivers flow through many states therefore, Uttarkhand High Court alone cannot take this decision.
