Ads go off air over dispute

Advertisements disappeared from television channels across the country on Wednesday as ad agencies and broadcasters bickered over the method of billing. The Indian Broadcasting Foundation (IBF) had asked all its members to stop airing TV commercials starting May 1, following an income tax notice to channels penalising them for not deducting tax on the commission that they paid to advertisers.
