London: The fourth seed Indo-Russian pair of Sania Mirza and Elena Vesnina crashed out of Ladies doubles semi final at Wimbledon on Friday.
They were outplayed by second seed pair of Kveta Peschke of Czecoslovakia and Katarina Srebotnik of Slovenia in straight sets 6-3, 6-1.
Sania and Vesnina failed to create any break points whereas Peschke –Srebotnik converted four breakpoints out of eleven.
There was no stopping Peschke and Srebotnik, who had 79 per cent of their second serve in place as compared to Sania-Vesnina`s 38 per cent.
Czech-Solvenia dominated the proceeding from the very beginning. After they took the first-set lead, it was just a stroll in the park for them in the second set against the Roland Garros finalists
The match which lasted just over an hour saw the Indo-Russian pair commit five unforced errors as compared to their rival’s one.
Sania Mirza will be eying for a victory in the mixed doubles category along with her partner Rohan Bopanna later in the day. The sixth seed pair would be up against unseeded Paul Hanley of Australia and Su-Wei Hsieh of Taipei in the quarters.
Now the second seed pair of Kveta Peschke and Katarina Srebotnik will face the winner of Sabine Lisicki, Samantha Stosur and Marina Erakovic, Tamarine Tanasugarn match for Wimbledon glory in the finals.
