The opposition Bharatiya Janata Party is headed for a landslide victory in Rajasthan, with the ruling Congress party conceding defeat.

Jaipur: The opposition Bharatiya Janata Party secured a landslide victory in Rajasthan on Sunday, with the ruling Congress party conceding defeat. Live updates:

Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot resigned after the Congress was dislodged from power in the state but said his party would continue to work for welfare of the people. The Congress would analyse factors that led to party`s drubbing in the state, he told reporters after submitting his resignation to Governor Margaret Alva.

In outgoing Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot`s home district Jodhpur, BJP has won nine out of ten assembly constituencies, with Gehlot the only winning candidate of the Congress party. Gehlot won his Sardarpura constituency by 18,478 votes, a margin up by 3,138 from his previous victory. He beat Shambhu Singh Khetasar of BJP, who secured 59,357 votes against Gehlot`s 77,835 votes. It was his fourth consecutive victory since 1999.

The BJP has secured an absolute majority in the 200-member Rajasthan Assembly, winning 121 out of 145 seats results for which have been declared so far. Till now, as per election officials, BJP won 121 seats, Congress 14, Independents 5, while other parties and NPP got 2 each. BSP has won from one seat.

Sources say the BJP has already started to make preparations for the oath-taking ceremony of Vasundhara Raje as the chief minister of the state. She may take the oath in the next two or three days at Janpath, in front of the state Assembly in Jaipur, sources added.

As per results/trends available at 5:00 pm, the BJP has won 86 seats and is leading in 70 others. The Congress has won 8 seats and is leading in 16 others. Others have won 5 seats and are leading in 14 others.

Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot wins Sardarpura seat by defeating his nearest rival Shambhusingh Khetasar of the BJP. Gehlot won the seat by a margin of 18,478 votes.

Accepting moral responsibility for defeat of ruling Congress in Rajasthan, PCC chief Chandrabhan resigned on Sunday.

As per trends/results available at 4:00 pm, the BJP is leading in/has won 157 seats, while the ruling Congress is leading in/has won 23 seats. Others are leading in/have won 19 seats.

Chief Minister Ashok Gehot will meet Governor Margaret Alva at 7:00 pm in Raj Bhawan to hand over his resignation.

As per trends/results available at 2:55 pm, the BJP is leading in/has won 153 seats, while the ruling Congress is leading in/has won 23 seats. Others are leading in/have won 23 seats.

BJP candidate Jagat Singh, son of Natwar Singh, wins Kaman seat of Bharatpur district by defeating his nearest rival of Congres Jayada Khan by a margin of 3400 votes.

The BJP is heading for a landslide win in Rajasthan. At 2:25 pm, the party is leading/has won 152 seats, while the ruling Congress is ahead in 25 seats. Others are leading in 22 seats.

As per results/trends available at 1:45 pm, the BJP has won 7 seats and is leading in 136 others. Congress is ahead in 29 seats, while Others are leading in 27 seats.

BJP candidate Vasudev Devnani wins Ajmer (North) seat of Ajmer district by a margin of 20479 votes.

BJP candidate Suryakanta Vyas wins Soorsagar seat of Jodhpur district by a margin of 19,461 votes.

BJP candidate Jagasi Ram wins Reodar (SC) seat of Sirohi district by defeating his nearest rival of Congress Lakhma Ram by a margin of 32,244 votes.

BJP candidate Samaram Grasiya wins Pindwara-Abu seat of Sirohi district by defeating his nearest rival of Congress Gangaben Grasiya by a margin of 30855 votes.

BJP candidate Gurjant Singh wins Sadulshahar seat of Ganganagar district by defeating his nearest rival of Congress Jagdish Chander by a margin of 4808 votes.

BJP candidate Otaram wins Sirohi seat of Sirohi district by defeating his nearest rival of Congress Sanyam Lodha by a margin of 10539 votes.

BJP candidate Kalulal Gurjar wins Mandal seat in Bhilwara district by a margin of 41,434 votes.

BJP`s CM candidate Vasundhara Raje wins by 60,896 votes from Jhalrapatan Assembly seat.

As per results/trends available at 1:00 pm, the BJP has won 4 seats and is leading in 139 others. Congress is ahead in 37 seats, while Others are leading in 25 seats.

As per trends available at 11:35 am, the BJP is leading in 133 seats while the ruling Congress is ahead in just 30. Others are leading in 28 seats. Trends are so far available for 191 out of the 199 seats for which the votes are being counted.

Those who are trailing are ministers Shanti Dhariwal (Kota North), Bina Kak (Sumerpur) Ameen Khan (Sheo), Vinod Kumar (Hanumangarh), Parliamentary Secretary Dilip Chaudhary (Jaitaran). Dhariwal is trailing by a margin of 1105 votes whereas forest minister Bina Kak is behind by 2714 votes.

As per trends available at 10:15 am, the BJP appears set for a landslide victory in Rajasthan as it is leading in 128 seats. The ruling Congress is ahead in just 18, while Others are leading in 19 seats.

The BJP is racing ahead in Rajasthan. As per trends available at 9:25 am, the opposition party is leading in 61 seats while the ruling Congress is ahead in 17. Others are leading in 4 seats.

As per trends available at 9:10 am, BJP is leading in 27 seats while the Congress is ahead in just 10.

Some of the constituencies in which BJP candidates are leading are Aspur, Bhilwara, Mandal, Pindwara-Abu and Udaipur district.
