Assam CM Sarbananda Sonowal urges youth to be disciplined, hard working

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has taken several steps to creating a favorable environment for development and spread of sports.

Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Friday urged youths to be disciplined, dedicated and work hard so that they can reach the zenith of success in sports.

"Sports competitions help in honing talents of the budding sportsman and also help in inculcating zeal and dedication necessary for being a good player", the Chief Minister said while inaugurating the ninth Mini (U-11) National Roll Ball Championship here on Friday.

He also pointed out that parents and teachers have a great role in helping students in inculcating and nurturing love for sports and take it up as a career.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has taken several steps to creating a favourable environment for development and spread of sports, he said.

The programme called 'Khelo India' was an effort to develop infrastructure and encourage talents in the country and to project India as a powerful nation in the global arena, he said.

Steps have been taken to develop sports complex in all villages in the country and this has been made to explore and encourage sports talents in the rural areas, Sonowal said.
Roll Ball has had its origin in India and then it went on to become popular across the globe, he added.
