Mercedes-Benz E-Class LWB: Top 5 features

You might already know that India is the second country to get the E-Class LWB and the first and only country where the long-wheelbase E-Class is being offered in the right-hand–drive (RHD) configuration. The long-wheelbase version of the E-Class was unveiled at the 2016 Auto China in April last year. However, apart from the extra rear legroom, the car also gets some amazing features that set it apart from its competitors. Let's check them out.

1) Air suspension

Air suspension is one of the most comfortable suspensions offered on cars. Instead of traditional coil springs, these cars have air springs and an on-board air compressor with sensors that adapts the suspension according to the changing road conditions. The suspension in the E-Class LWB also features a lift mode, which allows you to increase the ground clearance by 15mm. This will enable the car to cross speed breakers without getting its underbody scratched.

2) Electric rear seats

Apart from the front, the rear seats on the new E-Class LWB are electrically adjustable as well. You can now recline the backrest and adjust the headrest, and the seats even have a memory feature. At the touch of a button, the front passenger seat slides ahead and frees even more room for the rear passenger.

3) LED headlamps

The E-Class LWB commands a lot of attention, and that begins right from the front. Although it has may signature Mercedes styling elements, the headlamps make it stand apart. The swept-back headlamps are full LED and also have LED daytime running lights.

4) Burmester audio

To keep you entertained on your comfortable journeys, the E-Class LWB is equipped with a 13-speaker surround sound system by Burmester. It also features the same 12.3-inch TFT screen from the S-Class and has 64-colour ambient lighting and touch-sensitive controls on the steering wheel.

5) Safety tech

The new E-Class LWB is one of the safest cars in its segment. It has a rigid yet light body, thanks to the use of aluminium and high-strength steel. It scored a full, five-star rating in the Euro-NCAP crash test and is also equipped with all the latest safety equipment. It comes with seven airbags, ABS with EBD, traction control and Electronic Stability Program (ESP).
