Not far away from the action now, the pitch is being rolled on and the groundstaff are working to prepare the outfield, as there was some overnight rain. However, no signs of any rain now, but the live visuals show that it is pretty overcast, and the Aussie seamers will be itching to go out and bowl in these conditions.

The weather at the stadium is expected to be cloudy, with some rain predicted later in the day. So overall, it will also be interesting to see if it has any impact on the pitch. Carey fell soon after, but Webster stood firm to notch up a gritty half-century. The lower order added useful runs before Greaves, Alzarri, and Seales struck in quick time, followed by a brief rain break. After a brief rain delay, AustraliaÂ took control in the second session. Travis HeadÂ and Beau WebsterÂ pushed the total past 100 before Head fell to Shamar Joseph, thanks to a sharp catch by Hope. From there, Alex CareyÂ and Beau WebsterÂ took charge, stitching together a fluent 99-run stand. While a few chances went begging, the duo batted with authority and kept the scoreboard ticking, putting the Windies under pressure.

AustraliaÂ started steadily after opting to bat, with the openers showing positive intent, but a sudden collapse saw them slip from 47/0 to 50/3 in a span of three overs, with Alzarri JosephÂ striking twice and Anderson PhillipÂ chipping in. Despite the wobble, Travis HeadÂ and Cameron GreenÂ counter-attacked to steady the innings, but just when things looked to be settling, Jayden SealesÂ removed Green on the stroke of Lunch, denying him a chance to capitalise after being dropped.

A dramatic day of Test cricket comes to an unexpected end due to BAD LIGHT! Both teams had their share of moments, withÂ West IndiesÂ impressing in the morning and evening sessions, but Australiaâs positive approach and control during the afternoon, scoring at over four runs an over despite losing wickets, has given them a slight edge heading into Day 2.

The old Dukes ball does start to reverse around the 50th over and with some dark clouds hovering around the stadium, the next session could be the right opportunity for the Windies to end the day on a high. As far as Aussies are concerned, well they will want the duo of Webster and Carey to extend this partnership further and end the day in a commanding position. So do join us for the post-Tea session in about 20 minutes time.

The movement from the wicket definitely dried down a touch, and the Dukes ball too became old in this session. But the major problem for WI was their inconsistent bowling in comparison with the first session, where they were bang on the target. Perhaps the counterattack of Carey took them by surprise, and from then on the momentum firmly shifted in favor of the Aussies. Carey was dropped by Shai HopeÂ towards the fag end of the session, which summed an already miserable session for the hosts.Â

UPDATE -Â 4.47 pm GMT - A bit of positive news as the rain has slowed down, and the umpires are out there inspecting the pitch and outfield. They are not holding umbrellas, which is always a good sign. While writing this, we can see the rain has completely stopped now.Â The ground staff are also starting to peel off the covers, and the official word is that PLAY WILL RESTART AT 5 PM GMT.Â

On the other hand, WI pacers who have bowled with a lot of discipline in the first session will look to continue their good work.
