Mumbai Indians

166/6(18.1 Overs)

We are back for the all-important run chase!

... The Run Chase ...

Right then, 163 is what Mumbai Indians need to make it back-to-back wins for the first time this season and they will be confident about it with that long batting lineup. The surface is on the slower side but if there is any dew, Sunrisers Hyderabad will have to bowl out of their skins to defend this one. Scores below 165 are rarely defended at this venue but it is all still possible. Let's find out who comes out on top. The second essay is up next.

Will Jacks, the top performer with the ball for MI, is down for a chat. He says that there is a bit of turn and grip for the spinners and the slower ones and holding up as well. Add that they are happy with the target but they will also have to bat well. Says the Powerplay will be important and hopefully they start well and take the game deep and chase it. Ends by saying that SRH would have seen them how they bowled, and they will do the same things so they need to be a bit careful as well.

Sunrisers Hyderabad are known for their free-flowing hitting but the openers simply couldn't get going in the Powerplay. They faced a lot of slower deliveries but Abhishek Sharma did manage to ride his luck and get 40 crucial runs as Travis Head simply couldn't get going. The middle order also faced difficulty in finding the fence and even though not many dot balls were bowled, SRH were forced to settle for plenty of singles. Heinrich Klaasen did manage to get his side some much-needed momen

Mumbai Indians were on the money from the start and bowled brilliantly up top as their three experienced pacers came to the fore. After the Powerplay, it was a different story as Karn Sharma was out injured and with two left-handers out in the middle, Will Jacks was tossed the ball and he didn't disappoint. An extended spell for Jacks and he picked up two wickets. Hardik Pandya also got a wicket and kept things tight at the other end. The likes of Boult and Bumrah got those yorkers in at th

That is a masterclass in bowling from the home side and yet it feels like the visitors have got to a score that could be around par on this particular surface. Mumbai Indians will be fairly happy with the total on the board but will feel they could have restricted SRH for fewer runs as well. SRH, though, will be grateful for Klaasen and Verma, who did get a few big hits away at the death and took them over the 160-run mark.

Hardik Pandya to Pat Cummins, ! That's sensational hitting from SRH in the last overs and they have got past the 160 mark here!

Hardik Pandya to Aniket Verma, Bye.

Hardik Pandya to Aniket Verma, 2 runs.

Hardik Pandya to Aniket Verma, ! TOP SHOT!

Hardik Pandya to Aniket Verma, ! That's an outrageous shot! Slightly fuller and outside off, Aniket Verma stays deep rooted in his crese and swings it. He gets a good connection as the ball sails over the sweeper cover fence for a biggie.

Hardik Pandya to Aniket Verma, 1 run.

.

Sunrisers Hyderabad have taken a review for a wide call. The on-field call is it is a fair delivery.

Jasprit Bumrah to Pat Cummins, It is a legal ball! A yorker again and down the leg side this time, Pat Cummins shuffles across and misses his flick shot. It is deemed a legal ball by the on-field umpire and Pat Cummins has taken a review. The third umpire checks the replays and as Cummins has shuffles in his crease so it will be a legal ball.

Jasprit Bumrah to Aniket Verma, A low full toss again and outside off this time, Aniket Verma stays leg side of the ball and opens bat face to slice it to deep cover for a single.

Jasprit Bumrah to Pat Cummins, A low full toss this time, around middle, Cummins just manages to turn it to wide long on for a single.

Jasprit Bumrah to Aniket Verma, That's sensational bowling from Bumrah!

Aniket Verma is the next man in.

Trent Boult to Aniket Verma, 1 run.

Trent Boult to Nitish Kumar Reddy, ! c Tilak Varma b Trent Boult.

Is that a Bump Ball? The umpire wants to make sure and goes upstairs. The replay comes up and shows that Heinrich Klaasen has hit that onto the ground before Trent Boult grabs it.

Trent Boult to Heinrich Klaasen, A low full toss, around off, Heinrich Klaasen slams it down to long on for a single.

Trent Boult to Heinrich Klaasen, An appeal for caught and bowled now! A yorker again and around middle, Heinrich Klaasen drills it back to the bowler who catches it on his follow-through. The third umpire checks the replays and it is a bump ball.

Trent Boult to Heinrich Klaasen, A massive appeal for LBW from the bowler but the umpire turns it down! Bowls it much fuller and around leg, Heinrich Klaasen shuffles across and looks to ramp it over fine leg but misses and gets hit on the back pad. Probably, the pitching could be outside the leg stump.

Jasprit Bumrah to Heinrich Klaasen, A well-directed yorker now, around middle, Heinrich Klaasen clears ou his front leg and drills it to long on for a single to retain the strike for the next over.

Jasprit Bumrah to Heinrich Klaasen, A high full toss this time, around middle, Klaasen manages to push back to the bowler only.

Jasprit Bumrah to Heinrich Klaasen, WIDE! Full and down the leg side, Heinrich Klaasen misses his flick and it is called a wide by the umpire. Mumbai Indians have reviewed it and the third umpire is called into the action. He checks the replays and UltraEdge confirms that the on field umpire has called rightly here. Stays a wide.

Jasprit Bumrah to Nitish Kumar Reddy, 1 run.

Jasprit Bumrah to Heinrich Klaasen, 1 run.

Jasprit Bumrah to Heinrich Klaasen, That's a brilliant effort from Suryakumar Yadav! Short of a length and around middle, with pace taken off again, Heinrich Klaasen stands tall and pulls it hard towards deep mid-wicket. Suryakumar Yadav runs in to his right from wide long on and at first, he overruns a bit but stretches himself back in time to extend his left hand to save a couple of runs at least for his side.

Jasprit Bumrah to Nitish Kumar Reddy, Tries to be innnovative but the execution wasn't good!

Another change? Yes, Jasprit Bumrah comes back into the attack.

Trent Boult to Nitish Kumar Reddy, Accuracy at its finest from Trent Boult! Full and straight, Nitish Kumar Reddy can't get under it as he tries to whip it across the line and gets an inside edge onto the pads. The ball rolls to the off side and they get a single.

Trent Boult to Heinrich Klaasen, Spears it in, right around the base of leg stump, Klaasen does well to take the front leg out and digs it out through backward square leg for a run.

Trent Boult to Nitish Kumar Reddy, Full and around off, Reddy punches it hard and into the surface as the ball goes towards long off for just another single.

Trent Boult to Heinrich Klaasen, Gets the yorker spot-on this time and Klaasen just walks across to the off side before jamming it wide of mid on for a single.

Trent Boult to Heinrich Klaasen, WIDE! Fuller in length, looking to target the toes but spills it down leg for a wide.

Trent Boult to Heinrich Klaasen, ! Streaky but will do nicely for SRH as the 100 also comes up. Pace-off, on a good length and angling it across off, Klaasen stays back to cut but gets an outside edge that goes well to the left of short third and rolls away into the fence.

Trent Boult to Nitish Kumar Reddy, Full and around the fifth stump line, pace-on, Nitish Kumar Reddy stays deep in the crease and drills it down to long off for a single.

STRATEGIC BREAK! The innings of SRH hasn't taken off, and they are reeling at 95 runs after the 14 overs, which they wouldn't have thought, as they have lost just three wickets. The batters have tried to break through, but they have failed in that, and the pitch is not that flat where you can play on the up. Heinrich Klaasen will have to bat out here till the end to make sure that SRH go past 150 mark which should be a defendable score.

Hardik Pandya to Nitish Kumar Reddy, Misses the straight yorker by a couple of inches this time and Nitish Kumar Reddy hits the low full toss down to long on for a single. SRH need boundaries but they can't get any timing at the moment.

Hardik Pandya to Nitish Kumar Reddy, Top delivery! Great mixture of pace and length here from Hardik as he spears in a brute of a yorker now on middle and leg stump. Reddy manages to dig it out.

Hardik Pandya to Nitish Kumar Reddy, No timing on that one! Fuller in length, wide of the off stump, Nitish Kumar Reddy leans back and throws the kitchen sink but gets it off the toe end of the bat and straight to covers.

Mitchell Santner to Nitish Kumar Reddy, Slows it up and gets the ball to slide back into the pads, Reddy gets an inside edge off the pads just to the leg side and scampers through for the single.

It is a double change here. Hardik Pandya has brought in left-arm spinner, Mitchell Santner because the two right-handed batters are on the crease.

Mitchell Santner to Nitish Kumar Reddy, ! Innovative from Reddy!

Will Jacks to Heinrich Klaasen, Flatter one around off, jammed out into the off side by Klaasen. Just a couple of wides and a wicket off that over.

Will Jacks to Travis Head, WIDE! Into the surface and pushed well outside the off stump. Left alone for a wide.

Trent Boult to Travis Head, Keeps the length relatively full and bowls it around off, Travis Head takes the front leg out and smacks it hard but straight to long off and makes it six singles in the over.

Trent Boult to Nitish Kumar Reddy, Five singles in the over so far! Slower one, on a length, pushed well wide of the right-hander. Nitish Kumar Reddy looks to fetch and swing across the line but toe-ends it down to long on for a run.

Trent Boult to Travis Head, Boult bowling death bowling in the 11th over! Full and straight, yorker length, Head backs away and jams it into the turf and back past Boult down to long off for one more.

Hardik Pandya to Nitish Kumar Reddy, No run.

Hardik Pandya to Travis Head, 1 run.

Hardik Pandya to Travis Head, HUGE MOMENT IN THE GAME!

Well, well!

Will Jacks to Travis Head, Short and on off, Travis Head stabs it to long off for one more. 5 runs and a wicket from the over.

Strategic Break! SRH 68/2 in 8.4 overs and this has been a sluggish inning thus far from the Men in Orange and with Abhishek Sharma back in the hut along with Ishan Kishan, Travis Head needs to step up. Mumbai have bowled well with their pacers getting some swing early on and they made good use of the slower deliveries as well. There is some purchase for the spinners as well and SRH just haven't found rhythm thus far. Let's see how the crucial middle phase pans out as Nitish Kumar Reddy walks

Will Jacks to Nitish Kumar Reddy, Flighted, full and on middle, turns in, Nitish Kumar Reddy clips it through mid-wicket for one.

Will Jacks to Ishan Kishan, ! STUMPED! Will Jacks strikes now!

Will Jacks to Travis Head, 1 run.

Will Jacks to Travis Head, Close!

Hardik Pandya to Travis Head, Four!

Hardik Pandya to Ishan Kishan, 1 run.

Hardik Pandya to Abhishek Sharma, ! c sub Raj Angad Bawa b Hardik Pandya.

Ishan Kishan walks out to bat now.

Uh, oh! Hardik Pandya seems to have just twisted his left ankle here and has probably signalled for the Impact sub right away. This could be very, very bad news for the Mumbai Indians. For now, the physio is out to have a look. Hopefully, Pandya can play a part in this game. Hardik is getting that left foot heavily strapped, and he might try to play through the pain here, but it doesn't seem good for MI with Karn Sharma also off the field at the moment with a split-webbing. Some positive news

Hardik Pandya to Abhishek Sharma, Four!

Hardik Pandya to Travis Head, Back of a length and on middle, Travis Head pulls it to deep square leg for a single.

Will Jacks to Abhishek Sharma, Tossed up, full and on off, Abhishek Sharma tries to push it away but gets an outside edge wide of short third. Deepak Chahar quickly moves to his right to make a good stop. They cross.

Time for some spin as Will Jacks has now been thrown the ball.

Jasprit Bumrah to Travis Head, Clever change of pace! Back of a length and on middle, Travis Head gets deceived by the lack of pace and swings across way early only to connect with thin air.

Deepak Chahar to Abhishek Sharma, Just short of the fielder again! Abhishek Sharma is riding his luck again like the last match!

Deepak Chahar to Abhishek Sharma, ! That's a hat-trick of boundaries for Abhishek Sharma!

Jasprit Bumrah to Abhishek Sharma, Slower and on a length, around off, Sharma pushes it to mid off.

Jasprit Bumrah to Abhishek Sharma, ! STREAKY! Bumrah hits the deck hard and bowls on a hard length and just outside off, Abhishek Sharma hops up a bit and looks to pull it. Manages to get a top edge only that flies over the keeper behind the wickets for a boundary.

Deepak Chahar to Abhishek Sharma, WIDE! Short and wide outside off, with an extra bounce as well, Abhinav Manohar again comes down the wicket and swings at it but misses. It is called a wide.

Another one that drops short of Karn Sharma at mid-wicket but unfortunately, he seems to have split his webbing here.

Deepak Chahar to Abhishek Sharma, Was that short again or Karn Sharma has dropped it?

Deepak Chahar to Abhishek Sharma, ! CRUNCHED! Pitched up, right in the slot, around off, Abhishek Sharma leans on and drives it down the ground over the bowler's head for a boundary.

Trent Boult to Travis Head, ! DRILLED! Boult overpitches and pays the price! Too much full and around off, Travis Head clears out his front leg and slams it down the ground to the left of mid off for a boundary to end the over.

Trent Boult to Travis Head, Hard length and around off, Travis Head uses his feet and looks to go downtown but mistimes it aerially towards extra cover. The fielder collects it on the bounce.

Who will bowl from the other end? It will be Trent Boult.

Deepak Chahar to Abhishek Sharma, 1 run.

Deepak Chahar to Travis Head, There is a lot going on in the field!

Deepak Chahar to Travis Head, Has that carried to Karn Sharma? It falls just short of him and SRH are living very dangerously here! Deepak goes fuller and on the pads, gets it to nip back in a bit, Travis Head leans on and flicks it. The ball goes flat towards mid-wicket where Karn Sharma goes low to catch it but the ball just lands ahead of his hands.

He gets a thick outside edge that goes to the left of the first slip where Will Jacks goes to catch it, but the ball bursts out through his hands. The ball goes behind the wickets and the batters get a couple of runs.

All in readiness for this contest to begin! The two umpires are out in the middle as the players of Mumbai Indians can be seen in a huddle near the ropes. Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head will be the opening pair for SRH as usual. Deepak Chahar has the new ball in hand and is raring to go. Let's play...

The skipper of Sunrisers Hyderabad, Pat Cummins, says that he is fine to bat first as the wicket looks pretty good and they are also going in with the same team. Adds that the guys have been training here in Mumbai, and they are looking fresh to go.
