Darbhanga: A 70-year-old man was beheaded by a mob in Bihar's Darbhanga district after he named a chowk Narendra Modi chowk. The incident took place on Thursday, March 15.

More than 40 people, armed with hockey stick and swords and riding bikes, attacked Ramchandra Yadav and his elder son Kamal Yadav. Ramchandra was later beheaded by a sword.

“Around 40-50 men came on 25-30 bikes with hockey sticks & swords. My father went to them to explain the situation, but was beheaded, they also tried to kill my brother,” said the deceased's son Tej Narayan Yadav, who's reportedly a local Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader.

BJP workers on Friday staged a protest in the town on Friday demanding the arrest of all culprits.

An investigation has been launched into the matter.

“We reached the spot of the incident immediately and had arrested the culprits by night. We have recorded the statements of all the witnesses. In the brother's case we have recorded his statement and are investigating the matter,” said Darbhanga DSP Dilnvaj Ahamad.
