Mumbai: Akshay Kumar announced the release date of his upcoming home production – Padman – via Twitter almost about a week back and soon speculations were rife that his film would clash with Rajinikanth starrer 2.0, a sci-fi film that he himself is a part of.
But will Akshay clash with his own film? Well, that will never happen.
According to a report in Mid-Day, Akshay clarified that he will postpone Padman if the makers of 2.0 zero in on Republic Day for their film’s release.
“There is a lot of false information that is being circulated over both films releasing on the same day. Why would I clash with my own film? It will be either Padman or 2.0,” Mid-Day quoted Akshay as saying.
“While Padman is a film that I have produced, 2.0 belongs to Shankar, Rajinikanth and Lyca Productions. They will decide whether they want to release the film on Republic Day. If they do, I will postpone Padman and if they don't, I will go ahead,” Akshay said.
So fans of Akshay need not worry. Either Padman or 2.0 will release on Republic day.
Akshay Kumar’s Padman is based on Arunachalam Muruganantham’s initiative to create awareness about menstrual hygiene in rural India, Padman, which also stars Radhika Apte, will highlight a subject that has never been discussed in a film before! Padman marks Twinkle Khanna’s debut as a film producer. Interestingly, Twinkle had mentioned about the story of Padman aka Arunachalam in the final short story titled The Sanitary Man from A Scared Land in her second novel The Legend of Lakshmi Prasad.
2.0 on the other hand is a sequel to 2010 blockbuster Enthiran, a film which also starred Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. The sci-fi film marks Akshay’s debut in Tamil cinema.
