New Delhi: The star power of superstar Salman Khan is not restricted to any border. He has a huge fan following across the globe who await all his major releases eagerly. Bhaijaan is loved by his fan army in the neighbouring country Pakistan as well, so much so that what his fan did recently will leave your mind puzzled.
Salman's latest release 'Tiger Zinda Hai' was banned in Pakistan by the Censor Board stating that it presents the country in the wrong manner. IANS quoted the statement from CBFC chief Mobashir Hasan stating, “"As per synopsis, reviews and trailers of the film available in media, in the said feature film, our national security and law enforcement institutions, agencies, individuals and certain state symbols are being shown in a demeaning manner on which we have a 'no-compromise policy'”.
'Tiger Zinda Hai' released in India on December 22, 2017.
Now, what this diehard Salman fan in Pakistan did next speaks volumes about the kind of stardom Salman enjoys in the country. According to Mid-Day.com, a fan based in Lahore booked an auditorium at a theatre and hosted a private screening of the film on March 17 for his friends, family and superstar's fans.
The actor's 'Jabra' fan reportedly procured the digital rights for a one-time viewing of the 'Tiger Zinda Hai' and as many as 150 other fans attended the private screening. The report quotes a person who attended the screening as saying, “It was a great experience. Tiger Zinda Hai depicts the ties of love between India and Pakistan in such a pure way. We were cheering and hooting during Salman's action scenes. The film may have been banned here, but we endorse the idea of brotherhood that it promotes. We wish we didn't have to hold the screening discreetly. We want to tell Salman Bhai we have immense love for him and his movies.”
Adding more, the person said, “The man, who took the initiative, had to pay a hefty sum for the digital rights. The movie was screened via a USB in the digital cinema projector.”
Expressing his happiness over the news, Salman's father Salim Khan told Mid-Day, "It's a wonderful gesture. I feel films from India should be allowed to release in Pakistan, and their films should be allowed to screen here. That will happen only once the situation between the two countries improves."
'Tiger Zinda Hai' is directed by Ali Abbas Zafar and happens to be the sequel of 2015 blockbuster hit 'Ek Tha Tiger'. The film stars Salman and Katrina Kaif in the lead roles. The film happens to be the highest grosser of Bhaijaan in the country.
