New Delhi: Saif Ali Khan and Amrita Singh's daughter Sara Ali Khan signed her first project 'Kedarnath' in 2017. The film is directed and co-produced by Abhishek Kapoor and features Sushant Singh Rajput as the male lead.
The film was initially scheduled to release in June 2018. But a dispute between director Abhishek Kapoor and producer Prernaa Arora's KriArj Entertainment led to a lawsuit that threatened the completion of production. Later, Prernaa Arora was kicked out of the project and producer Ronnie Screwvala was taken on board for the film. After the issue got resolved, the lead actors, Sushant and Sara completed their portions in the film. However, due to the lawsuit between the makers, the shooting of the film had got stalled for several months.
In the meantime, Sara signed her second ambitious project — Rohit Shetty's 'Simmba' alongside Ranveer Singh. While the fate of 'Kedarnath' seemed to hang in uncertainty, the principal photography of 'Simmba' kickstarted in June this year with makers announcing that the film will hit the screens in December this year. On the other hand, 'Kedarnath' director Abhishek announced that he would release his film on November 30 this year.
Now, in the latest, the release date of 'Kedarnath' has been postponed by the makers again. As per reports, the film will now release in March next year, thus making 'Simmba' the debut film of Sara.
A source close to the development told Mumbai Mirror, "With Ronnie's 'Uri: The Surgical Strike' slated to release in January next year and Abhishek's 'Daku Drama' and ' Sonchiriya' featuring Sushant to open in February, 'Kedarnath' has been pushed to March. The makers are yet to zero in on a specific date."
