Along with some fabulous bikes, the Bajaj stall also had the RE60 in a very special trim along with the very radical U Car.
The Bajaj stall had some fantastic motorcycles which were unveiled but at the other end of the stall were some vibrant vehicles which looked like colourful little RE60’s. These were actually the RE60Quadricycle Signature Collection. Featured at this year’s Auto Expo were five eye-popping, vibrantly painted Bajaj RE60 models. The showcased collection represents an association between Bajaj Auto Ltd. and the renowned Australian artist and sculptor, Christopher Hogan. The goal of the partnership was to create a visual celebration for the launch of Bajaj Auto’s new 216cc vehicle on the world stage at the Auto Expo 2014.
Of his unique, yet distinctively recognisable style of painting, Hogan joking comments, “I was driven to abstraction. There were enough artists painting ‘well behaved’ landscapes and marine images without me adding to the list. Rather, I feel I contribute a contemporary slant through my depiction of these macro images. In essence, I reduce simple images to a series of spots and stripes”. The resultant compositions are striking paintings and sculpture that invite multiple interpretations from the viewer.”
Also stirring up a lot of attention was the U Car, a striking two-seater concept that's powered by a liquid-cooled, four-valve petrol motor and comes with Bajaj's patented triple-spark fuel injection, teamed with an automatic transmission. This front-wheel-driven concept sports stylish scissor doors and air conditioning, too. A Nano competitor seems to be on the anvil.
