Srinagar, Aug 21: Claiming that "innocent Kashmiris" had been exploited by "vested interests" over the years, Jammu and Kashmir government today said it was committed to resolution of the "vexed Kashmir issue" through a meaningful
dialogue.
Addressing a public gathering at Manigam in Ganderbal, 28 kms from here, Public Health Engineering Minister Qazi Mohammad Afzal said "government is committed to working for the dignity of the people of the state and seek an honourable solution to the vexed Kashmir issue through meaningful dialogue."
Without identifying any party or individual, he alleged vested interests had always "played with the sentiments of the people for petty considerations."
He said the PDP believed that the state could act as "a bridge for normalising and strengthening relations between India and Pakistan."
Qazi said Chief Minister M M Sayeed was the "first to initiate serious efforts to bring an end to the bloodshed in the state". His healing-touch policy and steps towards resolution of Kashmir issue through meaningful dialogue had brought about a "revolutionary" change in the entire political spectrum of the country, the Minister said.
