The festive season is nearing and most of the manufacturers in the Indian two-wheeler market are preparing their products for the upcoming challenge. Following the heat, Yamaha has also introduced a new Matt Green colour for its popular commuter bike, theSaluto. The new colour scheme includes aggressive yellow graphics on a dual-tone black-green paint job, and it costs Rs 1,000 extra over the price of standard colour options. Apart from this visual update the bike remains unchanged and the new colour is available with both Standard and Disc Brake variants, and is priced at Rs 53,600 and Rs 56,100 respectively (both ex-showroom, Delhi).
Commenting on the launch, Roy Kurian, vice president, sales and marketing, Yamaha Motor India Sales Pvt Ltd, said, “Since its launch, Saluto has gained immense popularity in the commuter segment. The launch of new vibrant colour schemes and graphics of Saluto are in line with Yamaha’s promise to constantly delight its customers. While the core concept of Saluto remains the same, Yamaha strives to continuously interact and excite its target audience with the new products and services.”
As per Yamaha, the Saluto has been developed around the concept of an ‘Economical & Practical Indian Family Motorcycle’. Powering the bike is an air-cooled 125cc engine which is based on the Blue Core Engine Development, ideal for an optimum performance. The motor makes just 8.3PS of power, which is the least in the category, but delivers a decent peak torque of 10.1Nm. However, the performance has been compensated with the lowest weight in its class. With a wet weight of just 113 kg, the Saluto claims to offer a fuel efficiency of 78kmpl.
