Washington: Jodie Foster’s estranged father has been sentenced to five years in prison for a 100,000-dollar property scam.
Lucius Foster was sentenced in a Los Angeles courtroom after being found guilty of 21 counts of grand theft for taking 5,000 dollars down payments from 25 investors on low-cost homes.
According to the prosecution, the homes that were advertised as selling for 85,999 dollars each were never actually built, RadarOnline reported.
Earlier Judge Don Cocek was prepared to release the accused on his own recognizance pending sentencing, but Foster told the court that he ‘doesn’t accept’ the verdict and intends to keep building houses and ‘give money back to all these people’.
He acted as his own attorney during the trial and is scheduled to return to court February 23 for a restitution hearing.
