London: A British couple was inspired to get married in a Shrek themed wedding, after they saw the first film on their first date and friends teased them that they looked like the cartoon couple.
Tracey and Vivian Williams did not take offence at being likened to the characters from the animated comedy film and instead decided to celebrate their love for each other by having the themed bash.
Tracey, 33, a supervisor from Bridgend, South Wales, daubed herself in green body paint, fake ears and a bright red wig to become Princess Fiona, and Vivian, 53, dressed up as Shrek in bright checked trousers and green body paint.
The colourful couple then paraded through the streets in a horse-drawn carriage after they were married at Bridgend Register Office.
“When we got together, Shrek was the first film we watched. We got addicted to Shrek and Fiona soon after,” the Daily Express quoted Tracey as saying.
“People always said we looked like the characters when we went on nights out. Even though Shrek and Fiona are both green ogres, we didn’t take offence because we like them so much.
“Everyone said I made a lovely Princess Fiona and Viv was the perfect Shrek,” she stated.
Her husband, a self-employed builder, was happy to join in with his bride’s wishes.
“Neither of us needed persuading at all. We were both as keen as each other,” he revealed.
Guests and family members joined in and dressed up as characters from the animated film.
“Everyone joined in for the wedding. The best man was dressed as Monsieur Hood, my dad was Lord Farquaad, my mother was the Fairy Godmother, and the maid of honour was Snow White,” Tracey added.
