New Delhi: Top women executives of various tech companies will head five National Institutes of Technology (NIT), a financial daily reported on Monday.
Intel India president Kumud Srinivasan has been made chairperson of NIT-Trichy, IBM India MD Vanitha Narayanan will head NIT-Suratkal, Capgemini India CEO Aruna Jayanthi will head NIT-Calicut, Aprameya Associates' founder director Vasantha Ramaswamy will head NIT-Rourkela and ex-head of NVIDIA's Pune design centre Jaya Panvalkar will head NIT-Surat, the paper said.
Meanwhile market regulator SEBI, under the new rules as mandated under the companies law and Sebi norms had said that every listed firm should have at least one woman director on its board, the deadline for which was set for October 1.
Under the Companies Act 2013, every listed company and those public firms having paid up share capital of Rs 100 crore or more should have at least one woman director on their board.
However, as many as 755 out of a total 1,469 NSE-listed companies, or 51% of the companies, were still to appoint a woman director as on August 31, 2014, a joint initiative of PRIME Database and NSE, had said in September.
