London: After `Iron Man 2`, Hollywood A-listers Scarlett Johansson and Robert Downey Jr are all set to re-unite onscreen for Joss Whedon`s comic book adaptation `The Avengers`.
The 46-year-old director announced the star cast of the movie at the Comic-con event in San Diego, which includes Samuel L Jackson, Chris Evans, Clark Gregg, Mark Ruffalo, Natalie Portman and Jeremy Renner besides Johansson and Downey Jr, a news website reported. "The energy is extraordinary. This is an extremely collaborative, supportive intelligent cast, they`re very sweet. They`re not challenging each other, they`re just enjoying each other and ready to get into it. And that`s an exciting atmosphere," Whedon said. Evans will reportedly play Captain America, Hemsworth will play Thor and Downey Jr will be Iron Man, roles they have already signed up for in separate movies. "I even said, `Don`t do it if we can`t make the deal with these actors.` I desperately wanted this exact crew forthe movie and we didn`t know until Saturday morning that it was going to happen, and that`s because of the extraordinarily hard work and trust from people who aren`t me," he added.
