I was uncomfortable doing romantic scenes with Farah: Boman

Boman Irani was little uncomfortable getting close to his co-star.

Mumbai: Boman Irani, who will be seen romancing choreographer-turned-actor Farah Khan in `Shirin Farhad Ki Toh Nikal Padi`, says he was little uncomfortable getting close to his co-star.
Though the chemistry between Boman and Farah looks amazing in the trailer, the 52-year-old actor said that enacting those scenes was not an easy task. "I am not very comfortable. It was for the character had it not been for the character, I would have become comfortable doing this kind of a film. It is good that I am uncomfortable as it is good for the character. Had the character meant to be comfortable may be I would have practiced more with Farah in private," Boman told reporters. The film is about two 40-year-olds, played by Boman and Farah, who fall in love with each other. "Our approach towards romance was all the more immature. As we don`t know how one will romance at the age of 45 like do we hold hands, sent messages or flowers or other things. The falling in love is clumsy, immature, catching and holding hands is done in clumsy, bumbling fashion," he said. The film traces the journey of Farhad Pastakiya (Boman), a 45-year-old Parsi bachelor working as lingerie salesman who falls in love with Shirin Fugawala (Farah), 40-year-old, bubbly, straightforward woman. But all hell breaks loose as Farhad`s mother Nargis realises that her son`s dream girl is her sworn enemy. Talking about his character, Boman said, "I am playing a character of 45-year-old man, who is still a virgin. He does not know much how to behave with woman and all. The casting is unusual as Farah is there on board. It was easier to fall in love with Farah than to fall in love with a younger girl." Boman was also all praise for his co-star and said that her willingness to learn things on the set surprised him. "Farah is a very intelligent person. She knows lot of things about cinema, her sense of understanding cinema is very good. There is certain intelligence of her in acting, her understanding of cinema and that she is inherently funny in real life, so all these things somehow worked for her," Boman said. "She did not come with a baggage of being an ace choreographer-director. She was ready to learn things," he said. The film directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali`s sister, Bela Sehgal, releases on August 24. PTI
