Royal Challengers Bangalore

160/8(20 Overs)

We are back for the run chase! The Mumbai players make their way out to the middle, followed by Rajat Patidar, the newcomer and Virat Kohli. Trent Boult will start with the ball.

So the Bangalore boys have done the job with the ball, time for their famed batters to take the side over the line now. They will need 160 to start the campaign with a win. Never count out Mumbai as their bowlers have shown in the past what they are capable off.  Can Bumrah and co. manage to restrict Bangalore to under 159 or will Kohli's Bangalore make it 9 first game losses out of 9 for Mumbai? Join us for the chase to find out.

What a bowling display from Bangalore! All the talk has always been about their bowlers and how they are the weak link in the side but they have silenced those critics with the ball. Harshal Patel, will grab all the headlines and rightfully so. He was just fantastic! Creating a record in the very first game of the season. He grabbed his first 5-wicket haul in T20s and became the first-ever bowler in 14 seasons to manage to take a 5-fer against Mumbai. But take nothing away from the other bowlers

Being put into bat, Mumbai did not get off to a good start as Lynn initially struggled and skipper, Rohit was run out. The Australian though soon calmed his nerve and found his groove. He added a very good stand of 70. Suryakumar though failed to convert his start and Lynn too followed suit soon as he departed on 49. But at 135/3 and with the middle order Mumbai have, it looked like the platform was set for them to go bang, bang. But it is the first game of the season and Mumbai are traditionall

What a performance from Harshal Patel! Selected ahead of Navdeep Saini, the latest recruit justified his addition and has become the first-ever bowler to take a 5-fer against Mumbai! A brilliant performance from Bangalore with the ball, especially in the death. An area where there has always been a doubt, the Kohli-led side have started their campaign brilliantly in terms of their death over bowling. Just 24 runs in the final 4 overs against the mighty middle order of Mumbai bodes really well. H

The star of the show, Harshal Patel is caught for a quick chat. Harshal Patel says that the ball started tailing the bit and he executed his plans brilliantly. Adds that you cannot look the opposition all the time and he focussed on his plans. States that it was very clear from the beginning that he was going to bowl two overs at the death but he got to bowl three. Says that he feels great to pick up a 5-fer and to pick up against Mumbai feels good. Tells that it is a decent batting surface and

Harshal Patel to Jasprit Bumrah, ! RUN OUT! What an end to the innings for Bangalore! They have come back really well. Full ball on middle, Bumrah works it down to long on. Chahar wants a couple but Bumrah is not interested. Kohli throws the ball to AB de Villiers who does the rest. MUMBAI END ON 159 F0R 9.

Harshal Patel to Jasprit Bumrah, Yorker outside off, Bumrah fails to dig it out but misses. Good work done by AB de Villiers behind the stumps.

Jasprit Bumrah is the new man in.

Harshal Patel to Marco Jansen, ! TIMBER! 5-fer for Harshal Patel! Tremendous performance from Patel! Wow, what a performance from the young man! Yorker on off, Jansen has no answers to this one as he fails to dig it out. And the ball rattles the timber behind.

Harshal Patel to Marco Jansen, Slower ball around the pads, Jansen makes room and then looks to swing it but misses it. Almost, gets a Hat-Trick.

Hat-trick ball. Rahul Chahar walks out to the middle but he will not face the hat-trick ball as it will be Marco Jansen who will face it.

Harshal Patel to Kieron Pollard, ! CAUGHT! Another one bites the dust! Harshal Patel is doing a wonderful job here for Bangalore. Another slower ball around off, Pollard looks to go big but is early into the shot and mistimes it. Sundar gets into position at deep mid-wicket and takes a comfortable catch.

Who will walk out to bat now? It will be the debutant, Marco Jansen! He will be at the non-striker's end.

Harshal Patel to Krunal Pandya, ! CAUGHT AT DEEP MID-WICKET! Good catch in the deep and Harshal Patel continues to impress! Slower ball around middle and leg, Pandya looks to go over deep mid-wicket but fails to get the timing right. It goes towards deep mid-wicket where Christian takes a comfortable catch. This has been a good performance at the death by Bangalore.

Kyle Jamieson to Kieron Pollard, Good end to the over! Slower short ball around off, Pollard looks to pull but misses it on this occasion. Jamieson ends with 4-0-27-1. Good figures on his debut.

Kyle Jamieson to Kieron Pollard, TOP EDGE AND ! Mumbai will take it! This was not a bad delivery at all but luck favours Pollard on this occasion! Short ball around off, Pollard looks to pull but it goes off the top edge and it flies over the keeper for a boundary.

Kyle Jamieson to Krunal Pandya, Short and on middle, Krunal pulls it to deep square leg and takes a run.

Kyle Jamieson to Krunal Pandya, Beautiful yorker from Jamieson! He bowls it right on the stumps and all Krunal can do is dig it back to the bowler. That is a bat-breaker.

Kyle Jamieson to Krunal Pandya, NO BALL AND ! Nicely played! Runs crucial here for MumbaI! Short ball around middle, Pandya pulls it to the deep square leg region for a boundary. Free Hit will follow.

Kohli carries on. The spot is visible near his right eye but the skipper has decided to stay on the field. It looks swollen and red but he is a fighter as we all know and he has decided to stay on the field.

Kyle Jamieson to Kieron Pollard, Short ball on middle, Pollard pulls it to deep mid-wicket for a single.

Who will bowl the penultimate over of the innings? It will be Kyle Jamieson. He has been superb. 1/15 from his 3 overs.

Kyle Jamieson to Krunal Pandya, Another dropped catch! This was hard for Kohli as it was travelling pretty quickly! Full ball outside off, Krunal wants to go over mid off but does not time it well. It goes towards Kohli at mid off but he fails to hold on. Tough, tough chance. It seems to have hurt Kohli as well.

Harshal Patel to Krunal Pandya, Full ball on middle, Pandya chips it to long on for a single.

Harshal Patel to Krunal Pandya, Slower ball outside off, pushed to cover.

Krunal Pandya joins Kieron Pollard out in the middle. Two KP's both extremely dangerous hitters of the ball.

Harshal Patel to Ishan Kishan, ! LBW! All reds it is and this looked plumb to the naked eye! Terrific bowling from Harshal Patel. Yorker on middle and leg, Kishan fails to dig it out and gets hit on the pads. There is an appeal for LBW but the umpire says no. Harshal Patel is convinced that he has got his man and convinces Kohli to take the review. The Ultra Edge rolls in and it shows nothing while the Ball Tracker shows that all reds.

Review time! LBW appeal against Ishan Kishan has been turned down. Harshal Patel is very confident and AB de Villiers is confident too. The South African signals the 'T' and soon after Kohli does that too. Let's see what the replays have to say.

Harshal Patel to Ishan Kishan, ! Siraj has dropped a sitter! How costly will this prove to be? These catches need to be taken at this level! Slower short ball around middle, Kishan looks to pull but it takes the top edge and goes towards deep square leg. Siraj settles himself under it but makes a mess of it. A couple taken.

Harshal Patel to Kieron Pollard, A dot to start! Good length ball on off, Pollard punches it back to the bowler.

Mohammed Siraj to Ishan Kishan, Low full toss on the pads, Kishan flicks it to fine leg for a single.

Mohammed Siraj to Ishan Kishan, ! Siraj is not happy with Sundar there! He came in a little and it goes over him. Short of a length ball around middle, Kishan pulls it to deep square leg. Sundar runs ahead a little and then it goes over him. It seems that it has touched the ropes on the full. The third umpire checks it and tells that it bounced in front

Mohammed Siraj to Ishan Kishan, WIDE! Very full down the leg side, Kishan looks to heave it away but misses. Wided.

Kieron Pollard is the new man in.

Time Out! Mumbai have set the platform for their death over specialists to go bang, bang in the death overs. The defending champions will look to get 50 runs or more in the final 5 overs and would back themselves to get that even though they have lost Hardik right at the stroke of this break. Bangalore have managed to get rid of Hardik but the job is not done yet. These final 4 pvers will be the litmus test for Kohli's side. They have struggled with the ball in these stages traditionally but hav

Harshal Patel to Hardik Pandya, ! LBW! All reds it is and Pandya has to go! Pandya misses out on a low full toss and he pays the price. Bangalore would be happy to see the back of Pandya as he can be very dangerous in the latter half of the innings. Harshal bowls a low full toss on middle, Pandya looks to flick but misses and gets hit on the pads. Bangalore appeal and up goes the finger. Pandya takes the review. The Ultra Edge shows nothing while the Ball Tracker shows that all reds. Ha

Hardik Pandya has been adjudged LBW but he has decided to refer it. Will the replays come to save him? Looks out to the naked eye but let's see what the technology has to say.

Harshal Patel to Hardik Pandya, Low full toss on off, Pandya drives it to cover for a dot.

Harshal Patel to Hardik Pandya, ! How well has Hardik played that? Beautifully! Good length ball outside off, Pandya just opens the face of the bat and guides it in between short third man and point for a boundary.

Dan Christian to Hardik Pandya, Length delivery on off, Hardik taps it behind point to backward point.

Dan Christian to Hardik Pandya, ! Cracking from Hardik! Full, a little too full from Christian. Hardik hits the ball ferociously straight down the ground. Dan Christian tries to get his hands to it and take the catch as it was hit uppishly but that was a finger breaker and the ball goes over his head for a boundary.

Dan Christian to Hardik Pandya, Quick and skiddy on the pads. Hardik looks to whip it on the leg side but gets surprised by how quickly the ball comes to him. Hardik misses and gets hit on the pad.

Yuzvendra Chahal to Hardik Pandya, Full on middle, Hardik works it down to long on for a single.

Yuzvendra Chahal to Ishan Kishan, Floated on the pads, Kishan sweeps it to deep square leg and takes a run.

Yuzvendra Chahal to Hardik Pandya, Floated on middle, Hardik flicks it to mid-wicket and takes off for a single. Chahal runs after it and collects. He has a shy at the bowler's end but misses. Hardik was a goner if Chahal had hit.

Washington Sundar to Ishan Kishan, Dot to finish the over., Excellent first over from Washington Sundar. Just 7 off it but more importantly, the big wicket of Chris Lynn. Flat and quick on the pads. Ishan looks to play but misses and gets hit on the thigh pad.

Hardik Pandya comes out to bat.

Washington Sundar to Chris Lynn, ! CAUGHT! Brilliant catch from Washington Sundar! Lynn departs on 49! A very good knock from Lynn but he will not get a fifty in his debut game for Mumbai. Washington Sundar strikes in his very first over and it is the end of Lynnsanity. It needed an athletic catch from Wahington Sundar and the man from Tamil Nadu has the athleticism to send the Australian back to the dug out.  Slightly shorter on middle, Lynn looks to flat-bat it straight over the bowl

Washington Sundar to Ishan Kishan, Floated on off, Ishan Kishan taps it to cover and rotates the strike. Smart cricket from Ishan. He is happy to give the strike to Lynn who is looking very good.

Mohammed Siraj to Chris Lynn, IN THE AIR BUT JUST SHORT OF JAMIESON! The tall frame of Jamieson is not big enough for him to reach the ball. Siraj takes the pace off the ball and bangs it shorter on off. He cramps Lynn for the room. The Australian looks to flat-bat it over extra cover but ends up getting it high on the bat. It falls in front of mid off. Kyle Jamieson there sees the ball late and is a bit slow to move forward. The Kiwi dives but the ball falls short of him. Single taken.

Kyle Jamieson to Suryakumar Yadav, ! CAUGHT! Jamieson gets his first wicket in the league! The New Zealander has so far been the best bowler for Bangalore and he now has a wicket to show for it. Good comeback from the tall Kiwi. After being hit for a six he has come back very strongly to win the war against Suryakumar Yadav. Time Out! The defending champions started off cautiously but have found their groove. They have managed to score 53 runs in the last 5 overs. It was a nervy start for Lynn and running out his skipper would not have helped his cause but since then the Australian has calmed his nerve and found his hitting range. He has found an able partner in Suryakumar Yadav. The duo have added 59 runs in just 31 balls and are looking very good out in the middle. The pitch has eased down to bat as well. Kohli kn

He gets off the mark with a boundary, just like he did in his T20I debut.  Slightly behind the good length area on off, Suryakumar Yadav picks the length early and flicks it in calypso style over mid-wicket for a boundary.

Who will come out to bat next? Suryakumar Yadav it is. Kyle Jamieson has a change of ends.

Yuzvendra Chahal to Chris Lynn, ! RUN OUT! A massive wicket for Bangalore as they have got the danger man, the Mumbai skipper, Rohit Sharma. Lynn, who has had a very nervy start, has made it even more difficult for himself. Getting your skipper, who was looking in decent touch run out in your debut outing for a new side is a big no-no. A poor mix-up and Rohit Sharma has to make the walk back. Flatter on off, Lynn punches it to the right of short cover. He calls for a run but then as so

Mohammed Siraj to Rohit Sharma, IN THE AIR AND JUST OVER! ! Lucky escape for Rohit once again. The defending champions are riding their luck early on.  Good length delivery on off, the ball sticks on the surface as it comes to Rohit. Kyle Jamieson to Chris Lynn, Lucky! Length ball on middle and leg. Lynn looks to play his trademark punch by creating room. He does not get away enough and gets an inside edge that goes behind the stumps.

Kyle Jamieson to Chris Lynn, EDGED BUT DOES NOT CARRY! Low bounce on this and that saves Lynn! Good length ball bowled at around 129 kph. Lynn looks to drive and goes with hard hands at it. Mohammed Siraj to Rohit Sharma, Rohit and Mumbai are off the mark straightaway! Lovely shot to begin with. Siraj starts with a pacy full ball on the pads. Easy for Rohit. He flicks it through mid-wicket and gets two as the outfield acts slow first up.  First runs of the season and it comes from the bat of the Mumbai captain.

Right then! We are done with the pre-match formalities and we are all in readiness to begin the 14th edition of the Indian T20 League. The Bangalore players are in a huddle and then they make their way out to the middle, followed by Rohit Sharma and Chris Lynn, the openers of Mumbai. Mohammed Siraj will start with the ball.

Harshal Patel to Kieron Pollard, ! CAUGHT! Another one bites the dust! Harshal Patel is doing a wonderful job here for Bangalore.
