New Delhi: Former India opener Virender Sehwag on Friday took a detour from his usual swashbuckling style, wishing former team-mate Gautam Gambhir on his 35th birthday in traditional, simplest way.
In his Twitter post, Sehwag wrote, "Many Many happy returns of the day Gautam Gambir" even without an emoji, which is certainly not his style.

And soon, fans started complaining that they were expecting much more than a simple wish. Some even wondered if the account has been hacked.
.@virendersehwag No Wordplay, No Pun? I think your account is hacked.

Sehwag, regarded as one of the most destructive batsmen ever to have played the sport, has legions of fans. But, post retirement, he has managed to establish an impressive online fan base thanks to his brilliant, politically correct and at times, funny Twitter post.
In fact, the batting great makes it compulsory to wish celebrities, especially cricketers, on their birthdays and also in important occasions.
But today, even the birthday boy was left complaining. Gambhir responded, "Thanks @virendersehwag bhai. I was expecting a wish in your commentary style bhai."
Thanks @virendersehwag bhai. I was expecting a wish in your commentary style bhai.

Gambhir, who made a Test comeback after two years, scored a fluent half-century in the second innings of the third and final Test against New Zealand at Indore.
Batting with discomfort, he stitched a 76-run stand with Cheteshwar Pujara to give India the momentum. Besides playing some beautiful shot, the left-handed batsman showed true grit.
India completed the series whitewash with a 321-run victory on the fourth day itself. But that result could have been a different one had Gambhir failed to turn up after retiring hurt on Day 3.
