India vs South Africa: Virat Kohli's Centurion hundred beats Steve Smith in this statistic

Virat Kohli and Steve Smith continue to churn out runs by the hundreds, and it was the turn of India captain on Saturday as he notched up his 21st century in the longest format on day three of the ongoing third Test against South Africa at Centurion. Incidentally, it helped him go past his Australian counterpart in terms of most away Test hundreds in last seven years.

New Delhi: Virat Kohli and Steve Smith continue to churn out runs by the hundreds, and it was the turn of India captain on Saturday as he notched up his 21st century in the longest format on day three of the ongoing third Test against South Africa at Centurion. Incidentally, it helped him go past his Australian counterpart in terms of most away Test hundreds in last seven years.

Since 2011, while Smith has scored 10 centuries on overseas tours, Kohli's tally swelled to 11.

Like Smith, such has been the prolific nature of Kohli's form over the years that of his 9 Test hundreds since 2016 (excluding the one he scored on Saturday), only once he has been dismissed without converting it into a double hundred.

Kohli began the third day's play unbeaten on 85 but didn't take long to reach his century, which also made him only the second captain from the subcontinent, after Sachin Tendulkar, to score a Test hundred in South Africa.
