IPL 10: Harsha Bhogle to make commentary box comeback, courtesy BCCI overhaul - Report

New Delhi: One of the finest commentators the cricketing fraternity has ever produced, Harsha Bhogle is reportedly on brink of making his comeback in the commentary box in the 10th edition of Indian Premier League.

Having been an integral part commentary and television show panels till season 8, Bhogle was absent from the ninth edition of the tournament.

According to reports published by Mumbai Mirror, Bhogle is expected to return to the broadcast team in one of the following two areas:-

  • As a commentator in the field.
  • As an expert panelist for the pre and post shows from the studio.

He was abruptly removed from the commentary box by the BCCI ahead of the IPL in 2016. Though the exact reasons have still not been confirmed, but a stinging tweet by Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan which was retweeted by Mahendra Singh Dhoni, is considered as one of the prime factors. Complaints by Virat Kohli and Murali Vijay, are also considered to have contributed towards Bhogle's exile.

Back then, reports suggested that Big B's tweet was retweeted by Dhoni with the words “Nothing to add”.

The recent BCCI overhaul is considered as one of the reasons behind Bhogles' recall.

The fans, though, will surely be thrilled to hear one of the most prominent voices once again giving expert opinions on the game alongwith likely partners in the form of Sunil Gavaskar, Ravi Shastri, L Sivaramakrishnan and Sanjay Manjrekar.

Considering the state of affairs between India and Pakistan, experts from across the border, Ramiz Raja, Waqar Younis and Shoaib Akhtar not available this year and Bhogle seems to have sorted out the board's desperate search for a quality analyst.
