IPL 2017 Auction: Rules, where to watch, Live Streaming, schedule - All you need to know!

New Delhi: The 10th edition of cash-rich Indian Premier League (IPL) kicks off from 5th April, but before that 352 players will go under the hammer at IPL auction on Monday, 20th February.

The auction was earlier supposed to take place on 4th February, but due to problems in Board For Cricket Control in India (BCCI) it was delayed by a fortnight.

A high octane atmosphere is expected as the owners, coaches and captains of all franchises will be battling out to bid for top players in pursuit to lift the IPL trophy.

140 players have been retained by the 8 franchises, while the 352 list of players who will be vying for remaining places in the franchise squads, include 227 Indian and 125 overseas players.

Kings XI Punjab has the highest purse of Rs.23.35 cr, on the other hand Mumbai Indians have the lowest purse of Rs 11.555 cr.

Rising Pune Supergiants and Gujarat Lions, who made their debut last year have a purse of Rs.19.1 cr and Rs.14.35 cr respectively.

IPL 2016 winners Sunrisers Hydreabad have can spend a maximum of Rs.20.9 cr while the runners-up, Royal Challengers Bangalore have have Rs.12.825 cr to shell out on new players.

Two time champions Kolkata Knight Riders with Rs.19.75 cr and the capital outfit, Delhi Daredevils have a Rs.21.5 cr to spend.

Ishant Sharma, the Indian pacer has the highest base price of Rs.2 cr among all Indian players. The overseas player with the highest base price includes England's vice captain Ben Stokes and ODI captian Eoin Morgan.

Following are the rules that franchises have to follow as far as the auction is concerned:-

• Bidding for all players starts at base price, the team has to raise the paddle and in the end the team bidding the highest for a player, takes him.
• If no team raises the paddle for the player, then he goes in the unsold players lot.
• The unsold players again return for auction in the end
• A team can buy maximum 27 players including 9 international players
• Maximum 76 players including 28 overseas players can be bought in the auction by all the teams
