MS Dhoni's criticism after failing to win 1st T20I against West Indies harsh: Glenn McGrath

New Delhi: While several questions were raised about MS Dhoni's finishing skills ever since he failed to score two runs off last ball against West Indies in first T20I, former Australian pacer Glenn McGrath has thrown his weight behind India's limited overs skipper.

Dhoni, who is undeniably one of the best finishers in the shorter formats, was dismissed off the final ball of the innings as he was caught at short third man, much to the dismay of the Indian fans.

Meanwhile, McGrath said that considering that the Ranchi cricketer had been one of the best in the business for a very long time and the criticism was harsh.

“He’s been one of the best finishers of the game. He’ s been a quality player for along time. So it was a little bit harsh judgement,” McGrath was quoted as saying by Hindustan Times.

The maverick Aussie further added that Dhoni still had a lot to offer for the youngsters.

“He has already retired from Tests. His strength is in the shorter format of the game. I feel he still has a lot to offer with the young guys coming in.”

India could not level the series against West Indies as the second T20I was washed out due to rain.

After a delayed start, Men in Blue bowled out Windies for 143, and were 15/0 after two overs when 20-minute of heavy downpour left the outfield totally wet.
