New Delhi: It's a known fact that the relationship between two former India captains – Ravi Shastri and Sourav Ganguly – are not in the best of terms. And from time to time, we get to hear interesting but troubling comments from either camps.

Recently, when Mahendra Singh Dhoni was giving way for Virat Kohli to lead the national team in the limited overs too, Shastri compiled a list of India's best captains. And there wasn't a mention of Ganguly in it.

As expected, many questioned Shastri's wisdom or intention, with another former India captain Mohammad Azharuddin even lashing out at the former. Azhar said Shastri shouldn't use his personal bias to insult players who have made valuable contribution for Indian cricket.

But when the same proposition was put in front of Ganguly, the Prince of Kolkata reasoned that Shastri wasn't watching cricket while he was captaining India.

This seemingly tongue in cheek comment was made on the sets of of a Bengali comedy show“Apur Sangsar”.

Ganguly also compared between Shastri and another former India captain Anil Kumble. He gave Shastri 7 out of 10 points to Shastri, while it's 9 out of 10 for the current India coach.

Shastri and Ganguly share a volatile relationship and traded several blows in full public view after the legendary Anil Kumble was appointed coach of the Indian cricket team last year.

Ganguly took charge of the Indian cricket team when it was struggling with match-fixing scandals in the early 2000s and then took it to great heights.

Under Ganguly, India won Test matches abroad on a consistent basis while making the final of World Cup in 2003.
