Virat Kohli is 'a generation transforming individual', but 'I get little scared' of his aggression: R Ashwin

New Delhi: Ravichandran Ashwin doesn't mince words, and he was straight to the point when talking about Virat Kohli's aggression. The ace spinner admitted that he at times felt scared of the Indian captain.

Talking to TOI, the 30-year-old spinner said Kohli "is a completely different individual" from Mahendra Singh Dhoni, whom the Delhi boy replaced as the captain of the national team.

"He likes confrontation, he likes to be in the thick of things, he's extremely aggressive. Sometimes I feel that he's so aggressive that I get a little scared," Ashwin said.

Ashwin jokingly admitted that even asking for changes in field placements needed second thoughts. But he is happy that Kohli always managed to employ an attacking field which augurs well for a attacking team like India.

"I wonder whether I should remove this fielder or not (laughs). The one thing with Virat is that you will never be wondering if that fielder has been put there in an attacking position or not," he was quoted as saying.

Ashwin was instrumental in India's prolific run which saw Kohli & Co maintaining top spot in Test cricket. And being a senior member of the team, he has seen the evolution of Kohli from close quarters. And he predicted Kohli to be "a generation transforming individual."

"He has evolved as a cricketer and as a person in the last couple of years. He's probably a generation transforming individual," Ashwin said about Kohli.

In the just concluded long home season, which featured New Zealand, England, Bangladesh and Australia, India won 10 of their 13 matches.

Ashwin himself bowled a record 738.2 overs, picking up 82 wickets.
