Diana’s letter raises £800 for charity

A `thank you` letter from Princess Diana raked in 800 pounds at an auction.

London: A thank you letter from Princess Diana, which she sent to her fashion designer pal Bruce Oldfield and business partner Anita, raked in a whopping 800 pounds at an auction after it was unearthed by Cash in the Attic. The note and a Christmas card from Diana to Bruce raised the big amount for children`s charity Barnado`s at the special London auction on the BBC2 show.
The Princess of Wales sent the letter to her fashionable pal on December 20, 1988, to thank him for a blouse. "I do love my Christmas present and how smart it is. You are incredibly kind to have given it to me and I am overwhelmed and speechless (makes a change!) by the arrival,” a news daily quoted her as saying in the letter. "I`ve never been able to keep a parcel until the right day so I fear I`ve opened it immediately. Thank you both more than I can possibly say for thinking of me. Lots of love from Diana,” she added. "It`s wonderful that they made such a staggering amount,” said Bruce, who was raised in Barnado`s. "I`m sure Princess Diana would be pleased that a simple card and thank you letter would help to support a charity of which she was president,” Bruce added. The show will be screened in January. ANI
