SC notices to Advani, Joshi, CBI
New Delhi, Sep 01: The Supreme Court today issued notices to Deputy Prime Minister L K Advani, Human Resources Development Minister Murli Manohar Joshi, CBI and other BJP and VHP leaders on a petition seeking quashing of May 30 chargesheet filed by the investigating agency before a Rae Bareli court in the Ayodhya case dropping conspiracy charge against them.
New Delhi, Sep 01: The Supreme Court today issued notices to Deputy Prime Minister L K Advani, Human Resources Development Minister Murli Manohar Joshi, CBI and other BJP and VHP leaders on a petition seeking quashing of May 30 chargesheet filed by the investigating agency before a Rae Bareli court in the Ayodhya case dropping conspiracy charge against them.
A bench comprising Justice S Rajendra Babu, Justice K G Balakrishnan and Justice Arun Kumar, while issuing the notices, adjourned hearing on another petition filed by Mohammad Aslam alias Bhure seeking review of apex court's earlier order upholding the transfer of Ayodhya case trial from Lucknow to Rae Bareli.
The petition on which notices were issued to Advani and others was filed by advocate Wajahad Ansari who challenged the may chargesheet filed by CBI before the Rae Bareli court.
Others to whom notices were issued included the state of UP, BJP leaders Uma Mharati and Vinay Katiyar, VHP leader Ashok Singhal, Giriraj Kishore and Vishnuhari Dalmiya.
