Washington: Matt Damon and his charity Water.org has recently launched a campaign called "buy a lady a drink" at the 2015 Sundance Film Festival which focus on providing clean water in developing countries.

The initiative will look on the plight of women who spend hours of their day in search of water and sometimes their journey ends in vain, Mashable.com reported.

Sponsored by Stella Artois, a regular supporter of the Sundance Film Festival, the global social-impact campaign seeks solutions to the global water crisis. The organization estimates that women around the world spend a combined 200 million hours each day seeking water for their families.

The Belgian beer giant has donated 1.2 million dollars to Water.org and is offering limited-edition for 12 dollars; proceeds from each sale are said to provide five years of clean water to one person in the developing world.
