MP from film industry should hold I&B portfolio: Ashoke Pandit

Panaji: Filmmaker and censor board member Ashoke Pandit today said an MP from the film industry should be the information and broadcasting minister.

"At present Arun Jaitley is the minister of information and broadcasting, and below him is a minister (Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore) who was a shooter," said Pandit, speaking at the ongoing Women Economic Forum here.

"We have a lot of people from the film industry in the Parliament. Had they been the information and broadcasting minister, the things would have been different," he said.

"Shatrughan Sinha was made health minister, and sportsman Rajyavardhan Rathore who is a shooter is the union minister of state for information and broadcasting.

"Other industries have a structure. These industries are discussed and debated in the Parliament. Ours is the only industry which is not discussed in the Parliament," Pandit said.
