Nagpur, Sept 01: In a relief to ruling Congress in Maharashtra, former Union ministers and veteran Congress leaders N K P Salve and Vasant Sathe tonight deferred the launch of a new regional outfit `Vidarbha Congress' in the wake of assurances from the party's central leadership. Salve said here that MPCC chief Ranjit Deshmukh, who was negotiating with central party leaders Ahmed Patel, political secretary to Congress president Sonia Gandhi, along with Manmohan Singh and Pranab Mukherjee, assured Congress favouring separate statehood for Vidarbha by moving a resolution during the winter session of Maharashtra Assembly. "We will not attend the convention of party workers and protagonists of Vidarbha scheduled for tomorrow in the city," Salve added. Bureau Report
