Steve Irwin's family donates famous outfit for waxwork

London: Wildlife TV icon Steve Irwin has been immortalised in wax by Madame Tussauds bosses, and the model is even wearing the presenter's famous on-screen uniform.

Crocodile Hunter Irwin, who died in 2006, was known to millions around the world for getting up close to potentially deadly creatures for his shows, while dressed in shorts and desert boots, reported The Guardian.

The popular presenter is now joining the gallery of lifelike waxworks at the Madame Tussauds museum in Sydney, and his family has made sure the mannequin is as realistic as possible by donating the star's famous outfit for the dummy to wear.

Irwin's wife Terri said, "We were thrilled when Madame Tussauds approached us to create Steve's wax figure... The team at Madame Tussauds has done an incredible job with the figure. I'm truly amazed at how much work has gone into making his likeness as authentic as possible. His wax figure will help keep Steve's memory, and his mission to protect wildlife and wild places, alive."

Irwin died when he was attacked by a stingray while filming off the coast of Queensland.
