Los Angeles: Although Zayn Malik is no longer a member of boy-band One Direction, the singer celebrated the group's five-year anniversary with a tweet to his former bandmate Liam Payne.

Celebrating their anniversary, Liam took to Twitter to thank Zayn and the rest of his bandmates for support, reported Billboard.

"Wowwwww 5 years 5 boys what an amazing journey I couldn't thank you all ever enough and thank you Louis Niall Harry and zayn for everything," he tweeted.
Zayn, 22, replied, "thanks bro!" along with a smiley face and an "x."

The 22-year-old "One Thing" hitmaker also retweeted two of Liam's tweets noting the five year anniversary.

Zayn left One Direction earlier this year, and the group has carried on without him. In 2010, media mogul Simon Cowell grouped Harry, Louis Tomlinson, Niall Horan, Liam and Zayn to create One Direction after they finished third on the UK's "The X Factor" in 2010.

The band signed with Cowell's record label Syco Records after their win.
